Petrichor; the earthy pleasant odor that follows rain especially after a warm, dry period. The word holds Grecian origins where the word ‘Petra’ means stone, and ’inchor’ refers to the golden fluid that flows in the veins of immortals or gods.
Did you know that it's possible to enjoy this scent on demand? DōTERRA has successfully created this delightful experience with the Litsea Fruit, Tangerine Peel, Grapefruit Peel, Frankincense Resin, and Cardamom Seed. This blend was specially created with its aromatic purposes in mind. If you focus on its scent, you will identify its distinct citrus notes accompanied by faint woody and herbal scents, giving a sense of energizing clarity when inhaled. Each oil ingredient has a specific purpose in this blend:
Litsea Fruit - fresh and bright aroma, the two main chemical components in Litsea Fruit give cleansing benefits.
Tangerine Peel - primarily used for its uplifting aroma as well as its purifying qualities.
Grapefruit Peel - uplifting aroma, its primary component of limonene (contained in many citrus oils) contribute to its purifying qualities.
Frankincense Resin - soothing and warm aroma (the wood scent component to the blend), which is renown for its various healing benefits.
Cardamom Seed - spice and herbal like aroma which contributes to feelings of clear breathing due to its high 1.8-cineole content.
Suggested uses of this blend include diffusing, ingesting such as a drop in your water, or topical application. If applied topically, it is recommended to keep the area of application out of direct sunlight, due to the citrus component which can react to UV. Our favorite method of use is freshen our laundry. It might be cheating to get that fresh rain-scented smell in our table linens, but it is especially appreciated in the winter when seasonal blues tries to hold us. We find that our clients appreciate this extra care in their massage experience. No one wants to be face down in an unpleasant odor.
